East Riding Learning Partnership

Annual 14-19 Event 2013

Harnessing the opportunities for our young people

Tuesday 26 February

Bishop Burton College, Bishop Burton, near Beverley, East Riding of Yorkshire.

We are delighted to confirm the programme for this year's 14-19 event.

Jointly hosted by the East Riding 14-19 Learning Partnership, Humber Local Enterprise Partnership (LEP) and East Riding Council Economic Development Services the event aims to provide the latest information, the opportunity to debate key issues and time to network with senior leaders in education, training and employment. The programme is a mixture of presentations by key note speakers from around the UK and workshop activities addressing 'hot topics' within the world of 14-19.

Key note speakers include:

  • David Cameron, The Real David Cameron Limited. David has established himself as one of the leading voices in the UK and internationally. He has worked in every sector from early years to Further Education across the UK and has been in demand, particularly for his work on creativity, curriculum and learning right across the world;
  • Steve Besley, Head of Policy (UK and International), Pearson Think Tank, Pearson International. With a wealth of experience across the world of education, Steve provides a policy briefing service with regular updates and analysis through Policy Watch mail outs and presentations across the country;
  • Olly Newton, Head of the Participation Unit, Department for Education. The Unit has responsibility for policy to raise the participation age and reduce the proportion of young people not in education, employment or training (NEET).

The workshop sessions will be facilitated by a variety of local, regional and national organisations including the National Apprenticeship Service, Humber Education Business Partnership, East Riding Council, Humber LEP.

The event is aimed at senior leaders engaged in education, training and employment for young people and is kindly sponsored by East Riding of Yorkshire Council and is therefore free for all delegates who book and attend on the day.
