Introduction to Increased Flexibility 14-16
This Government initiative, aims at increasing and facilitating the
relationships between colleges, training providers and schools to develop more varied progression routes
for pupils in the 14-16 age range.
It focuses on three qualification routes which must attract equal proportions of students if the funding
is to be secured.
These are Applied Double Award GCSEs, NVQ level 1, and Entry level, and other vocational qualifications.
The funding comes directly through the LSC and is channelled through a lead college.
In our case, The East Riding College is our lead partner.
The East Riding Increased Flexibility Partnership is composed of all three colleges in the area.
These are as follows:

and all 18 secondary schools.
There are numerous other organisations also represented at the Steering group and Working group meetings, and they are as follows:
The Local
Educational Authority, the LSC, and the
Humber
EBLO (Educational Business Links Organisation).
The group also has representatives of the Consortium
for Learning (a consortium of training providers), Prospect training, Hull University, Connexions,
and the East Riding Learning Partnership.
The partnership is supported by the LSDA (Learning and Skills Development Agency) ,which provides funding
for meetings, staff training and development work.
The partnership is currently focusing on common
contracts and documentation, and developing a common quality framework.
The LSDA (Learning and Skills Development Agency) also funds development groups associated with the
project, the Vocational Coordinators group, and a Health and Social Care group.
EBLO (Educational Business Links Organisation) fund a Heads of Business group.
