The Organisational Development team is responsible for helping the Council to recruit, retain
and develop a diverse workforce.
Introduction to Organisational Development
The work undertaken relates to the workforce in its wider sense including school-based staff as well as private care homes delivering
services on behalf of the council.
The team’s priorities are outlined in the Corporate Workforce Development Strategy.
The team organises and attends many local and national events.
In doing this, people become more conscious of the Council as an employer and it also raises awareness of service critical areas, areas
which are struggling to recruit and retain staff locally (reflecting national trends).
The team includes the Council’s Investors in People Adviser as the Investors in People standard links closely with the Workforce
Development strategy - providing a mechanism for the Council to assess how effective it is in developing its workforce.
The views of employees are monitored an annual Workforce Survey and the results are used to further inform the development of the
Council’s Workforce Strategy.
The Organisational Development Team is keen to work with schools to raise the profile of the Council as a potential employer.
The types of activities, which we would be keen to be involved in and assist with where possible include:
- taking part in Careers evenings (providing an information stand/delivering presentations);
- contributing to conferences by delivering workshops - either relating to the Council as a whole, or specific areas;
- assisting teaching staff to source ‘expert’ information (providing speakers for sessions, developing FREE resource packs which teachers can use);
- assisting with Career guidance (provision of information, facilitating workshops, delivering IT based sessions - linking to LGCareers.com and Futureville;
- sourcing teacher placements and placements for young people;
- and providing ideas for pupil projects.
If you would like to discuss how we can work with you on either these initiatives, or any other ideas which you may have, please don’t
hesitate to contact us.
