Individual Planning Process for Learners

Pupil Entitlement

Individual Learning Planning is an entitlement for all learners studying for diplomas in the East Riding.

All providers involved in diplomas will offer their learners the experience of regular one to one tutorial sessions where the young people can reflect on their progress so far and draw up plans and set targets for their future learning.

A full description of Individual Learning Plans (ILPs) is available in the guidance below:

Underpinning Systems

The pupil experience of Individual Learning Planning for the Diplomas in the East Riding will be predicated on integrated IT systems and effective data sharing, so that the e-ILP (Electronic Individual Learning Plan) can be a common personalised focus for all providers involved in the young person’s learning.

This will bring coherence to the separate components of the diploma for the learner, as well as helping to make the learner’s skills development explicit in a range of work-related environments and contexts.

The use of an e-ILP is also part of the DCSF vision for Common Prospectus developments, where it complements and is used in conjunction with the Common Applications Process (CAP) when the learner is ready to move on to new courses and options.

The DCSF and LSC expect that areas will have an e-ILP in place by 2010.

A pilot study using a commercial ILP is currently being undertaken in four schools and a college for evaluation before the 2009 start of the diplomas in the East Riding.

A sub-group of the Common Prospectus Board meets to support e-ILP developments.
