Leadership Conference 2008
Thursday 20 November 2008
9.00am - 4.15pm (Registration from 8.30am)
Bridlington Spa
'Leading into the Future: Working Together for Children and Young People'
This conference is offered free to Head teachers and Chairs of Governors (or a representative from the Governing Body) from East Riding schools.
The Government’s Children’s Plan ‘Building Brighter Futures’ sets out Government goals for what it believes children and young people and the
services which support them, should achieve by 2010 and beyond.
It also gives a very clear message that schools must collaborate with each other and with other children’s services and be part of their local
communities.
This conference will pursue several themes relating to the concept of working together for children through collaborative leadership and
inter-agency working.
* This conference has been formerly referred to as the Head teachers’ Conference.
The title has been changed to reflect the context of collaborative leadership and inter-agency working.

Primary Curriculum Conference 2009
Friday 23 January 2009
The Royal Hall, Bridlington Spa
'Planning for Learning That Lasts a Lifetime'
This exciting Curriculum Conference will provide for a stimulating and varied day where schools’ representatives will be able to
engage closely with the developments in curriculum planning and delivery in response to the current Independent Review of the
Primary Curriculum led by Sir Jim Rose and supported by QCA.
There will be opportunities to hear about some of the different models of curriculum design currently being used and
developed in the East Riding.
The target audience for the conference is primary school curriculum leaders and teachers.
Ideally it should be attended by two representatives from each school who have the interest and authority to design and
drive this agenda forward, putting it into practice and engaging with others in their school.
This full-day event will take place in the spectacular and newly-refurbished Royal Hall at the Spa, Bridlington.
The cost of this important event is being promoted and subsidised by the East Riding of Yorkshire School Improvement Service
so that it can be offered to schools at a cost of £50 per delegate.
(The cost to interested schools outside the local authority is £75)
The fee covers participation in all activities and workshops and includes a hot buffet lunch and full information pack for
each delegate.

The theme this year is family safety: protect the one you love. Whether teaching pre-schoolers to ‘hold hands’ with mum or dad, or teaching teenagers the dangers of driving and the importance of looking after younger siblings, you can meet curriculum requirements and play a vital role in preventing a tragedy in your school, college, or nursery by taking part. Get planning today.
Road Safety Week is organised by Brake, the road safety charity with backing from the Government and our corporate sponsors.
Brake has two aims: to promote road safety and support people bereaved and injured in crashes.
A child is killed or hurt on UK roads every 20 minutes.
Help us to save lives and to support people bereaved by road crashes by taking part in National Road Safety Week.
