p8. Secondary Phase Professional Development Framework
All schools...
- have a School Improvement Partner who works with the school to review the Self Evaluation Form and School Improvement Plan, to identify priorities for development;
- have access to the School Improvement Service Area Team;
- have a Co-ordinating Consultant who, with an Adviser, agrees a contract for support from the Local Authority;
- have an entitlement to consultant's support (see below);
- and have the option to buy additional services.
Schools causing concern or in an Ofsted category...
- have an entitlement to 40 consultant days of support (in Special Measures) or 30 days with an LA or Ofsted Notice to Improve;
- have meetings each half-term of the SCC Review Group (School Leadership Team, Secondary Strategy Manager, School Improvement Partner and Co-ordinating Consultant);
- have regular Local Authority monitoring and evaluation visit each term.
Schools with an identified area for development...
- have an entitlement to 20 consultant days of support;
- have regular review group meetings;
- may have a local authority monitoring and evaluation visit.
Schools with an underperforming core department...
- receive support from a core subject consultant;
- are given funding linked to a targeted action plan to support departmental development.
Schools with the capacity to share good practice...
- have an entitlement to 10 consultant days of support, which may include sharing practice with other schools.
