Information: The Course will provide an introduction to looking closely at and interpreting paintings, led by Museums to Schools Officer and Arts Educator Tracy Teasdale. The Course will consider what the Ferens Art Gallery has to offer as a resource for learning, how to interpret and talk about paintings, how a gallery visit can develop literacy skills and inspire creative cross-curricular work incorporating history, geography, drama and mathematics as well as Art and Design.
Objectives:
  • To provide teachers, TAs and Art and Design co-ordinators with an introduction to the interpretation and understanding of paintings and how a gallery visit can ispire creative cross-curricular planning and activities.
  • To provide infromation on the techniques and principles for the interpretation of paintings and 'seeing' them in contexts which can be further developed in the classroom.
Please note that failure to attend a course to which you have applied will result in an admin. charge of £10.00 unless a cancellation code is quoted.
A similar charge will be made if delegates attend without having made a formal application.
