We want to give all schools the opportunity to provide a range of services and activities such as childcare, healthcare and family learning to help meet the needs of its pupils, their families and local people. Making the school the focus of a wide range of activity also has the knock on benefit of improved pupil behaviour, attendance and educational attainment" - Rt Hon Magaret Hodge MBE MP Minister for Children, Young People and Families, October 2003.
Objectives: To put Extended Schools into Context:
  • What does being an Extended School mean
  • What are the benefits for the school, pupils, staff and parents
  • How can schools ensure that community needs are met
  • Support mechanisms
  • Accessing funds for Extended Schools
  • Integrating services through extended schools
