Information: This Course is a
compulsory part of a National Strategy. This is a repeat of the
course run in the Autumn Term.
This course is aimed at all Foundation Stage practitioners working
in maintained and non-maintained settings. In the interest of continuity
we request that schools attend with their feeder settings, although
this is not a requirement. The development and use of communication
and language is at the heart of young children's learning.
'Communication, language and literacy depend on learning and being
competent in a number of key skills, together with having the confidence,
opportunity, encouragement, support and dispositions to use them.
This Area of Learning includes communication, speaking and listening
in different situations and for different purposes. Children must
be given the opportunities for effective development in writing
for a variety of different purposes'. The Curriculum Guidance
for the Foundation Stage 2000
|
Objectives:
The course will give particular attention to:
- Incorporating communication, language and literacy development
in planned activities in each Area of Learning.
- The effective assessment of writing in the Foundation Stage.
- Early identification of, and responses to, any particular difficulties
in children's writing development.

Please note that failure to attend a course to which you have applied will result in an administration charge of £10.00 unless a cancellation code is quoted. A similar charge will be made if delegates attend without having made a formal application.
