Information:
This course is aimed at Primary and KS2 teachers who wish to develop creativity in the classroom and are interested in investigating a practical, mixed-media response to the furnishings and fabrics of Burton Agnes Hall.
A KS2 unit of work based on Burton Agnes Hall past and present will be presented and explored. This will link the Art and Design QCA Unit 4b, 'Take a Seat' and the History QCA Unit 18, 'What was it like to live here in the past?' and will focus on putting planning into practice in both lower and upper KS2. The day will be practical, focusing on artistic responses to the people and places in Burton Agnes Hall. Speaking, listening, reading and writing in context will be explored within the unit as will the creative use of ICT as a tool for learning and teaching.
'Who's been sitting in my chair?' will utilise a real local context for creatively exploring the lives of the people who lived there in the past and provide resources for planning future class visits to Burton Agnes Hall.

Objectives:
  • To make creative links across the curriculum.
  • To use local history resources in exciting and imaginative ways.
  • To make the past 'come to life' by exploring people in the past and how they lived.
  • To develop practical skills in art and design.
Please note that failure to attend a course to which you have applied will result in an administration charge of £10.00 unless a cancellation code is quoted.  A similar charge will be made if delegates attend without having made a formal application.
