Information:
This course will provide an introduction to the LEA's statutory
agreed syllabus for RE, which is currently being revised for a re-launch
in July 2005.
Despite the fact that there will be some changes in the new document
to make it more user-friendly, it will remain essentially the same.
The majority of Primary teachers find thay are expected to teach
RE, though most are non-specialists. This day will provide NQTs
with a background understanding of the way in which the agreed syllabus
- and its associated schemes of work - is designed to be taught,
and will provide them with an insight into its revision, which might
usefully be shared with other colleagues.
|
Objectives:
To provide Newly Qualified Teachers with:
- An overview of the requirements of the current East Riding Agreed
Syllabus for RE.
- An introduction to the associated East Riding Schemes of Work
and the way in which they support the syllabus, including suggestions
for assessment.
- An update on the revision of the Agreed Syllabus and national
RE matters.
- Ideas for resourcing the RE curriculum.
- Opportunity to discuss any issues arising from the teaching
of world religions.
