This course is aimed at teachers, nursery nurses and teaching asistants who have children with speech and language needs in their class. It is a unique opportunity to meet and train alongside speech and language therapists and assistants for two afternoons. Through this it is hoped that Education and Health Service staff will gain an insight into each other's role.

Objectives:
  • To understand what speech and language difficulties are, and the impact that they have in the nursery/foundation stage setting.
  • To understand each other's terminology and role.
  • To look at and share general strategies to support children with speech and language difficulties in the Foundation Stage setting.
  • To learn how to make a classroom/setting more language friendly.
  • To relate the above to the Early Learning Goals.
  • To develop joint target setting.
Please note that failure to attend a course to which you have applied will result in an administration charge of £10.00 unless a cancellation code is quoted.  A similar charge will be made if delegates attend without having made a formal application.
