Information: This course is aimed at Secondary School Librarians and Secondary Strategy Managers.
The Secondary Strategy strongly supports the concept of the school library/learning resource centre as the hub of learning for the whole school. The Strategy seeks to develop independent, confident learners and this course will explore the key role school libraries play in this. This training day will focus on showcasing the work being done in two East Riding Secondary Schools and will highlight the contribution they are making to teaching, learning and raising standards. The course will be interactive and will allow participants opportunities to share good practice.

Objectives:
  • To understand the school librarian's role in developing students' information-handling skills.
  • To investigate the part the school library plays in creating reading communities.
  • To get to know the Secondary Strategy materials supporting school librarians.
  • To plan future developments in schools.
Please note that failure to attend a course to which you have applied will result in an administration charge of £10.00 unless a cancellation code is quoted.  A similar charge will be made if delegates attend without having made a formal application.
