Information:
This is an induction course aimed atr newly appointed teaching assistants or those with some experience, but who have yet to undertake any training. For 2004/5, parts of the course have been revised and two new modules hve been added:
Day 1: Role and Context and Behaviour Management
Days 2 and 3: Literacy and Mathematics
Day 4: Science and SEN
Day 5: Foundation Subjects and Assessment for Learning and Role and Context.
An envelope containing some pre-course activities will be sent to delegates immediately after the closing date.
TAs should attend on all five days and should be accompanied on the morning of Day 1 by a senior teacher who will be their mentor. Mentors should also complete an application firm, clearly stating their role.

Objectives:
  • To provide training for newly recruited TAs to enable them to assist teachers in raising the standards of pupil performance.
  • To promote support by the TA for the teachers, the pupils, the school and the curriculum
  • To promote support for the TA in carrying out the responsibilities and functions of the role ascribed by the school.
Please note that failure to attend a course to which you have applied will result in an administration charge of £10.00 unless a cancellation code is quoted.  A similar charge will be made if delegates attend without having made a formal application.
