Information:
This course is aimed at teaching assistants who are supporting Maths
at Key Stage 3 or pupils with SEN at Key Stage 4. It is part of
a three-module course accredited by the College of York St John
(20 Level 1 Credits which can be APL'd into the YSJ Foundation Degree).
However, candidates can choose whether or not they wish to accredit
and do not have to have attended the other modules. Accreditation
takes the form of a Reflective Learning Journal and a Case Study.
Some reading and practical activities will also be required. Support
will be given for written assignments. This module will look at
the requirements of the National Curriculum and National Numeracy
Strategy, the role of the TA, difficulties in children's learning,
intervention strategies, using ICT to support Mathematics, dealing
with errors and using resources. This is an updated repeat of the
course that ran very successfully in 2003.
|
Objectives:
- To increase the curricular understanding of teaching assistants
in order to improve support for teachers and pupils, thereby raising
attainment.
- To provide professional development opportunities for teaching
assisstants expecially in the light of the Remodelling Agenda.
|
Please note that failure to attend a course to which you have applied will result in an administration charge of £10.00 unless a cancellation code is quoted. A similar charge will be made if delegates attend without having made a formal application.
Please complete the section below and pass the form onto your Continuing Professional Development co-ordinator or Headteacher. |
