Tutor(s): Angela Makepeace (Manager: Celsian Education), Noel Jones Director:  Noel Jones

Information:
Angela Makepeace is the manager of Celsian Education, a successful educational consultancy group. As a teacher she gained experience as Head of Department, Head of Year and Assistant Headteacher in large schools. She has presented extensively in the United Kingdom and has organised numerous conferences on NQT Mentorship. She has wide experience of working with LEAs and Initial Teacher Training Institutions.
It is extremely important that schools understand the requirements of the NQT Induction Year and know what to do to help NQTs succeed. Equally, it is important that the procedures put in place for NQTs failing induction are rigorously followed.
The course is a repeat of a popular course that has run on several occasions in the LEA. It will provide a useful 'refresher' for Induction Tutors who attended previously and it is vital for Induction Tutors who haved not attended in the past two years.

Objectives: Participants will:
  • Be given an outline of the statutory Induction Standards and processes.
  • Be given time to discuss salient issues around the standards and discuss ways in which to provide a quality experience for NQTs undertaking the Induction Year.
  • Discuss what to do in the case of a failing NQT.
  • Be given a comprehensive reference guide to help support NQT Induction.
Please note that failure to attend a course to which you have applied will result in an administration charge of £10.00 unless a cancellation code is quoted.  A similar charge will be made if delegates attend without having made a formal application.
Please complete the section below and pass the form onto your Continuing Professional Development co-ordinator or Headteacher.
