Information:
This five-day course looks at the possible purposes and/or cause
of behaviour, which prevent active participation and engagement
with the learning process. This is a practical experiential course,
focusing on relationships between adults and students in understanding
and managing behaviour. A consistent strand throughout the course
will be the acquisition and practice of active listening and solution-focused
skills.
The course covers five key themes which will be viewed from both
adult and student perspectives.
Developing self-esteem
Setting limits on behaviour
Managing feelings
Problem solving
The value of the relationship
Course participants will have the opportunity,as an optional task,
to build a portfolio of evidence of their skills. Time will be allowed
for individual support for this task if required. Lydia works as
a therapeutic counsellor/psychotherapist as well as teaching part
time in the Learning Support Department at Vermuyden School.
Please note that there are 15 places available and that this is
a re-run of the course held in the Spring Term 2005.
