p7. CPD Entitlements

All practitioners in every school have an entitlement to good CPD. The responsibility for the professional development of
practitioners lies with the school, fulfilling its statutory obligation to develop the workforce to meet the identified needs of the school and
the professional and personal development needs of the individuals.
The model of effective CPD is described more fully elsewhere in this
CPD prospectus. As a service we want to support schools in making the best use of CPD opportunities and to deliver the right blend of
training and other professional development activities to ensure that CPD has the impact on adult learning and through that an impact in
the classroom.

The Universal Offer
All schools are entitled to the Primary National Strategy training, which in 2008-2009 will continue to focus on the foundation stage, the new primary framework, assessment for learning, and the new APP (Assessing Pupils' Progress) materials. Schools will have access to coaching/mentoring as appropriate.
This could include the services of leading practitioners/ASTs.
Schools will also have access to a SIP (School Improvement Partner).
If schools have bought into the SLA then they will have discounted access to the range of courses described on a termly basis on www.eRiding.net.
They can also contract in support from a range of education professionals and the exciting mix of projects that have made such a difference to East Riding schools.
Where head teachers decide they would like the support of a peer Head teacher they will be able to buy in, through the SLA the support of a trained 'Leadership Consultant' from within the authority, who will support the development of distributed leadership within the school.
All schools will have the option to use Networked Learning approaches to address key issues within their school/cluster and the support of a network advisor from the school improvement team.
We will be supporting schools to network in order to address core issues and will be encouraging the use of shared budget allocations to make a difference at sub cluster level and build on the positive experiences of our Primary Learning Networks.
