All schools will have a SIP and access to the Area Relationship Team.
  Packages All Development Packages Will Be agreed between the SIP and/or the co-ordinating consultant and the school

a.) Schools of concern/ OfSTED category; special measures; notice to improve
b.) ISP

  • SIP (School Improvement Partner) works with the school to identify the areas of underperformance for development, that will make the most difference to school improvement.
  • Audit of provision undertaken by co-ordinating consultant, Head teacher & lead SIS professional.
  • The co-ordinating consultant plans and draws up the support contract/action plan.
  • * Residencies if appropriate.
  • Half-termly planning and review meetings with the co-ordinating consultant.
  • Local Authority monitoring and evaluation visit once a term (and option to buy in extra support as required).
  • All of the above will be linked to the school development plan and LA/school contract.

a.) Support for a school with a concern regarding one of the core subjects
b.) Schools requiring focused support
c.) ISP

  • SIP (School Improvement Partner) works with the school to identify the areas of underperformance for development, that will make the most difference to school improvement.
  • Audit of provision undertaken by Co-ordinating consultant, Head teacher and lead SIS (School Improvement Service) professional.
  • The co-ordinating consultant plans and draws up the support contract/action plan.
  • Support negotiated by the co-ordinating consultant in liaison with other SIS (School Improvement Service) professionals.
  • The co-ordinating consultant and the core consultant work together to plan to address concerns.
  • * Residencies if appropriate.

Support for a school with an identified area of development outside the core subjects (e.g. behaviour management/SL team)

  • SIP/Link Adviser works with the school to identify the areas for development or area of underperformance.
  • The co-ordinating consultant brokers and contracts support.
  • A residency could be used to develop the identified area of underperformance. 2 days - gap task - 2 days.

Successful schools

  • Access to central training and the opportunity to purchase further support to facilitate development of teaching and learning.

Extra support - advice and support

  • Various - highlighted in other area of brochure e.g. Whole School initiatives; Leadership and management. All schools have an option to buy into this support.

* Residencies: The concept of a residency is a simple one. Consultants work in a team during a concentrated period in a school where they initiate a plan, do, review cycle in the agreed area for development. The residency will be used to build the school's capacity to manage change and develop learning and teaching.

All of the above packages can be enhanced, where appropriate by the support of a Leadership Consultant (serving primary Head teacher and leading practitioners or ASTs (Advanced Skills teachers)). Part of the consultancy to schools includes the support of leading primary practitioners.
