Visit to Tunnicliffe Furniture
A very informative twilight meeting took place at John Tunnicliffe Furniture on Sutton Fields.
Visitors were given guided tours of the design and manufacturing
facilities by John Tunnicliffe and shown an insight into the world
of industrial CAD by their product designer.

Links with the secondary design and technology curriculum were
established and it was good to see the application of our subject
in an industrial context.
Humber Education Business Links Organisation (EBLO), who organised the event, are
to be congratulated on providing a most enjoyable and educational event.
The food was good too.

Teachers listening to an interesting talk on design principles given by the
company's founder, John Tunnicliffe.
Computer Aided Design (CAD) programmes allow realistic modelling of designs to be created.
These CAD programmes create machine tool paths to allow robotic cutting parts by computer aided
machining (CAM).
