' People say that life is the thing, but I prefer reading ' - Logan Pearsall Smith
With the depth of choice available for young readers it is sometimes difficult to choose a title suitable for children of a certain age to read.
We would like children to be engaged by the text and entertained and informed by illustrations, yet given a degree of education in the process.
'The Best of Childrens Fiction'
The Schools' Library Service has been involved in producing an annual leaflet, 'The Best of Childrens Fiction'.
This provides a useful synopsis or recently published books for children.
This is available here, and printed copies are available from members of the literacy team.
If you know of any books which you would like to recommend to parents or other readers,
or to submit a review of a book you particularly enjoyed or disliked, please contact us at the
addresses below.
In the meantime, however, please have a look at the Early Years Book List and the
Best of Children's Fiction publication offered here.
