UG803D: e-Learning Foundation

Alert! The deadline for application for the current round of funds was 31 March 2006.

The Foundation will make grants available on occasion when it is in a position to make its own funds available or manage third party funds (see CRITERIA and APPLICATION Sections of the downloadable report).

In 2005/06, the Foundation awarded over £400,000.

The Foundation expects to grant on average about £10,000 per school.

However, the actual size of the grant and the level of match funding from parents and other private sources the Foundation expects schools to generate for themselves, will vary, depending on their local circumstances, including Free School Meals eligibility figures.

For the current grant round, funds may only be used to buy or lease capital equipment.

Funding for Internet access and training etc will need to come from other sources.

Not all the funding will be raised through the national e-Learning Foundation.

Each local foundation will be responsible for raising its own funds and the National e-Learning Foundation may be one potential donor.

It is envisaged that many benefactors, including parents, will prefer to make their donations at a local level.

UE745D: DfES Specialist Schools Programme for Special Schools

The closing dates for the two application rounds: 28 April 2006 and 15 September 2006.

Special schools will receive a one-off capital grant of £100,000.

The grant must be used with the sponsorship to enhance the school's facilities linked to the chosen area of the SEN Code.

It is for the school to decide how they spend the grant, but it could be used for:

  • refurbishment or new build of specialist facilities, eg multi-sensory room which could be made available to other schools through the outreach programme;
  • purchase of specialist equipment such as specialist health support or ICT facilities.
