' The phoneme can be defined as "the smallest meaningful psychological unit of sound". '

Phonemes
Following the course 'Playing with Sounds', teachers and practitioners requested a resource to enable them to hear the correct 'sounds'.

Using the resources available to download below we will work our way through the alphabet, and also try some other common phonemes.

There are two versions of the resource for you to try.

One version is fully 'automated' and designed to be used for the purpose of information gathering by educators, whereas the 'manual' version is intended for use in class, where slide timings and sound interventions need to be controlled by mouse-clicks in order to facilitate class or student participation.

To download and save onto your hard drive please right-click on the document title and select 'Save Target As...' from the menu (Windows).

Instructions to Download Presentations (Windows)

You require 7Zip
on your computer to unpack .zip files.

STEP 1: If you do not have either WinZip or 7Zip installed on your computer, please follow the link below to do this. You will need to use this free program to unpack the presentation.

The presentations are offered as two versions:

  • Automated version - no mouse clicks required - presentation progresses at at preset rate - recommended for teachers working alone or with other teachers.
  • Maual version - mouse clicks are required to move onto the next slide and to initiate sounds - recommended version for use with children.

2. Select the desired download(s) by clicking on the title in the resource panels below.
