Governors

Governor Forums

Governor Forums are held on a termly basis at three different venues around the county.

Details of these can be found in the termly edition of Governor News.

Issues emerging from these forums are published here.

Autumn Term 2005

Following discussions with the Governor Development Steering Group, this term’s Forums will consider three specific issues:

  • ERYC’s draft Single Plan for Children and Young people
  • Data on projected pupil numbers in the East Riding and the impact on schools
  • An update on the structural reviews that schools are undertaking and the introduction of Teaching and Learning Responsibilities (TLRs).

The Single Plan will be the key document that drives the Council’s main priorities up to 2007/8 for all its children and young people.

Schools provide a universal service to all children and therefore play an important role in ensuring that the five outcomes for children are met: being safe, healthy, enjoying and achieving, making a positive contribution and achieving economic well-being.

The Single Plan will set out how the available resources will be targeted over the next two to three years.

Governors will need to be aware of this Plan and the Forums will provide the opportunity to consider it in its draft form prior to adoption in Spring 2006.

The Forums will be held on:

  • Tuesday, October 18th at Howden School
  • Wednesday, November 2nd at Country Hall, Beverley
  • Thursday, November 3rd at Hornsea School and Language College

Each forum starts promptly at 7.00pm and finishes by 9.00pm.

All governors are invited to attend - no applications are necessary.

Autumn Term 2004 - General Updates

Summer Term 2004 - ICT in schools

This term’s focus for Governor Forums is Information Communications Technology.

Developments in this area are on moving at very rapid pace.

The forums present information on these developments and the ways in which schools are effectively embracing ICT within classrooms.

Spring Term 2004

The three forums considered the early stages of workforce remodelling.

Those governors attending undertook an 'opportunities and challenges' exercise, and the outcomes of this are shown in the document published below.
