Workforce Reform for a 21st Century School: A brief for governors
The purpose of the material available to download below is to provide you with an update on recent workforce reform
developments.
It is intended to complement the Guide for Governors IV produced in 2005 by
ourselves working in conjunction with the Training and Development Agency for Schools.
National Audit Office Guide
The National Audit Office have published a helpful guide to governing bodies that asks particular questions over a range of important issues - all
aimed at improving school performance.
Support for Governors in the East Riding
Governor Support Service
The Governor Support Service provides governing bodies with a clerking service, advice on governing
body membership, recruitment of governors and general governance matters.

Governor Development
eRiding provides resources and ideas for many aspects of school governance.
The Local Authority provides a range of in-house, cluster and LA-wide training, details of which are included in a
termly newsletter that is sent to all training link governors, Heads and Chairs.
The Training and Development Programme is monitored by a Governor Development Steering Group.
