The principal aims for the use of whiteboards in history are as follows:
- Effective embedding of ICT in the history strategy in Key Stage
1 and 2
- Enhancing of teaching and learning in history by developing
the use of interactive whiteboards in the classroom
- Developing and sharing of resources for use in history teaching
and learning
Used creatively and effectively, interactive whiteboards have the potential to:
- improve the quality of interactions
- improve teacher assessment through the promotion of effective questioning
- enhance modelling
- redress the balance of making resources and planning for teaching
- increase the pace of learning
The notebook files have been developed by the teachers in the East
Riding Primary Interactive Whiteboard Pilot for use in history
learning and teaching.
The copyright belongs to the authors, but the resources have been prepared with the intention
that teachers use and adapt the files.

Notes on Accessing the Resources

If you click on .xbk files they can be read by your browser.
To download the SMART Notebook resources:
Right click on the document link and choose 'Save Target As...'
Save the file to a location on your computer's hard disk, then run the SMART Notebook
application and open the saved resource using the correct procedure.

These resources were developed by teachers in the Interactive Whiteboard Pilot.
The files are intended to be used creatively by the class teacher as a whole class
teacher resource.
The files can be downloaded and adapted for teachers own use, so please feel free
to customise to your own specific requirements.
The icons on the right of the resources panel
are indicative of relevance and possible (not compulsory) usage.
Any files tailored to different scenarios can be republished in this section for use
by other teachers.
