' It is not just about computers, but rather the whole range of methods of handling, controlling and communicating
information. ' - John Janulewski, ICT Link Adviser, School Improvement Service
How Good Is Your ICT Provision?
If you are thinking of reviewing your school's ICT provision, but not sure where to
start - have a look at the Becta Self Review Framework.
Becta's Self Review Framework
Reviewing your ICT Provision?
The self-review framework is an online tool which enables schools to assess and benchmark their use of ICT across all their
activities.
It enables schools to identify where they are, and shows the practical steps they can take to improve their ICT use.
It can also complement the work your school has undertaken for Ofsted's Self Evaluation Framework.
The self-review framework comprises eight elements; these elements cover the whole development of ICT across the school:
- Leadership and Management
- Curriculum
- Learning & Teaching
- Assessment
- Professional Development
- Extending Opportunities for Learning
- Resources
- Impact on Pupil Outcomes
The self-review framework has been put together with collaboration between Becta, Ofsted, the Qualifications and Curriculum
Authority (QCA), the Training and Development Agency (TDA), the National College for School Leadership (NCSL), the National
Strategies, the Specialist Schools and Academies Trust (SSAT) and Naace, alongside advice and guidance from a wider range of
partners and stakeholders.
We Think Our School's ICT Provision is Very Good - How Can We Show This?
The ICT Mark
The ICT Mark is new this year.

Click on the logo above to visit the ICT Mark website |
The ICT Mark can provide your school the opportunity to verify your own self evaluation judgements in relation to all aspects of ICT and
evidence to demonstrate high achievement and impact on learner outcomes.
The ICT Mark is only available to those schools who have registered and completed the eight elements of the Becta self-review framework.
The ICT Mark is a national benchmark.
The ICT Mark is externally assessed by an accredited assessor.
Two members of the School Improvement Service ICT Team are Assessors for the ICT Mark; Dr Isobel Fleming and Ian Raven.
A full listing of recently accredited ICT Mark schools is now available.
