Internet Safety
Internet Safety Lessons
The DLC (Digital Learning Community) delivers online internet safety broadcast lessons into primary schools for KS2 pupils.
The lessons are taught by qualified teachers and are projected onto interactive whiteboards direct into classrooms.
The lessons help pupils develop a set of 'safe and discriminating' behaviours to adopt when using Internet technologies such as chat rooms, web
pages, e-mail, and the use of mobile phones.
A strong emphasis is placed on understanding what is personal information and how children should use their personal information online.
If you are interested in finding out more about how the DLC can help your school prepare your pupils safely for a life online, contact the DLC.

Advice from the BT Broadband Website
There is currently some very useful Internet safety advice available from the BT Broadband website.
Click on the image above to visit the BT Broadband and Internet Safety and Security website section.
We feel that on the whole the material available on the site is useful, but eRiding users should be aware that it is generated by an
external source, and hence we (East Riding of Yorkshire Council) cannot be held responsible for any of the advertising that children will be
exposed to.
The advice given in the attachments is sound, encourages parental and teacher responsibility, is not sensationalist (unlike the tabloid
media articles of early 2006) and is externally verified.
