DiDA requires more than just digital resources. It also requires skilled teachers and a pupil's e-portfolio management system. Schools are still not aware of the choices available. The Digital Camera site from Casio has plenty of ideas for teachers. For instance, send groups of secondary maths students out to find real examples of geometrical terms such as angles, parallel lines and so on.
Is There a Case for Child Labour?
Intriguing history site packed with resources. Standing out is a simulation on child labour in 18th century textile factories. Students can act out the characters using the site's biographical resources.
Mum and Dad Dinosaur
Computer simulations can be great for illustrating tasks which would be hard to perform in a classroom - such as raising an allosaurus into
adulthood. Here are some great ones for the science classroom. Some need plug-in software, but you can download these fairly quickly.
Science Ups and Downs
This simulator is for students to design their own roller-coaster and teachers who want to get them thinking about physics. Pupils determine heights, loop size, speed, mass, gravity and friction. It gets across the idea of changing one variable at a time.
