Information:
Target Group: Secondary Teaching Assistants, mentors and other non-specialists supporting pupils in Key Stage 3 Mathematics. Funding is available for one participant from each secondary school or establishment working with KS3 students in mathematics. The half-day training session is in response to late additional funding provided by the KS3 strategy. The training will be valuable to all teaching assistants supporting mathematics in KS3 and particularly useful to teaching assistants supporting students in Y9 groups in the run up to national tests. The schools of successful applicants will be funded at the generous rate of £40 for the half-day attendance in respect of cover costs. A light buffet lunch will be served at 12 noon.
Objectives: To help mathematics classroom assistants, particularly those working in Year 9 to increase:
  • confidence with important aspects of Key Stage 3 mathematics;
  • knowledge of the Key Stage 3 tests;
  • understanding of effective strategies to support pupils working in the mathematics classroom;
  • awareness of approches and resources to support pupils beyond the mathematics classroom.
Please note that failure to attend a course to which you have applied will result in an admin. charge of £10.00 unless a cancellation code is quoted.
A similar charge will be made if delegates attend without having made a formal application.
