This course will contribute towards the Continual Professional Development (DfES CPD) criteria for accreditation in the HEALTHY SCHOOL AWARD.

If you deliver the Primary PSHCE Curriculum or teach PSHCE in secondary or special schools this course is an absolute must if you have not previously attended a drug awareness course! This course will enable you to understand more about drugs in society, their risks, effects and legality. It will enable you to teach drug education more effectively and give you an opportunity to discuss your own issues and concerns as a teacher of young people. The responsibility of education and schools within national and local strategy will be identified along with on-going support for teachers. Local strategies for supporting young people and the role of the Four Tiered Service will be fully explained.
Objectives:
  1. To increase levels of drug awareness;
  2. To increase teacher confidence in drug education;
  3. To identify the effects, risks and legality status of drugs;
  4. To familiarise delegates with the Four Tiered Service for young people;
  5. To explain the role and responsibility of schools within national and local drug strategy;
  6. To support the schools in accreditation for the Healthy School Award;
  7. To address delegate's concerns and issues.
Please note that failure to attend a course to which you have applied will result in an admin. charge of £10.00 unless a cancellation code is quoted.
A similar charge will be made if delegates attend without having made a formal application.
