Information:
Following very positive evaluations from previous workshops on this topic, this half-day session is offered on three more separate occasions. Given the growing emphasis on Remodelling the Workforce and the recent School Staffing Regulations (2003), this workshop will bring together:

  • relevant legislation and statutory guidance, including changes to Head Teachers responsibilities;
  • ERYC policy in the context of the Council being the employer of staff;
  • good practice with regard to recruitment and selection of teaching and support staff.

Objectives:

By the end of the workshop, participants will:

  • be aware of the legislative background to recruitment and selection;
  • be aware of the changing role of governors in this area
  • understand the ways in which the Council, as employer, encourages effective and efficient recruitment and selection procedures including drawing up job outlines and person specifications;
  • have a greater understanding of the steps that need to be taken when recruiting and selecting staff.
Please note that failure to attend a course to which you have applied will result in an admin. charge of £10.00 unless a cancellation code is quoted. A similar charge will be made if delegates attend without having made a formal application. Please complete the section below and pass the form onto your INSET co-ordinator or Headteacher.
