' Real-time communication among any number of users, in any location, on any kind of telephone connection. '
LearnLinc™ virtual classroom software is the smart successor to video conferencing.
LearnLinc™ is quite robust technology for peer-to-peer working on a dedicated ISDN line.
However, on the Internet, video-conferencing applications can only run with large amounts of bandwidth.
That means they can be used in a school with a broadband connection - but will take out all the bandwidth needed for ordinary Internet use by
other users in the school, and they are unusable by anyone working on a standard telephone connection, or even an ISDN line.
LearnLinc™ is a collection of conferencing tools - these allow real-time communication among any number of users, in any location,
on any kind of telephone connection.

Learners and their instructors can speak and listen,
send text messages, answer questions or respond to prompts - and can even
share the experience of using each other's computers.
Where video conferencing uses modern technology to recreate a 19th century idea of
'talking heads', virtual classroom software, like LearnLinc™, allows more
autonomy to the learner, while still giving teachers and mentors some
powerful ways of keeping learners on task.
It is suitable for active learning styles and use of multiple intelligences.
And it works more or less anywhere.
This technology has been used successfully by Warwickshire and Derbyshire
support services, and is now being introduced into other learning contexts
around the country.
It is one of the many new technologies that we will
use in creating a digital school for the East Riding.
If you are a teacher, learner or manager working in the East Riding LEA or
the Learning Partnership, and you would like to use this software, or know
more about it, then please contact:
