Maths Intervention - Key Stage 1 - Wave 2 Support - 'Making Maths Magic'
'Making Maths Magic' is an East Riding of Yorkshire maths equivalent for the Primary
National Strategy ELS programme.
It was put together by one of the maths consultants, leading teachers and an advanced skills teacher.
It is an intervention programme to support pupils in Year 1 and/or Year 2.
The pupils who would benefit from the programme are those who are predicted to achieve a 2C at the end of KS1.
The programme lasts of 6 weeks, 4 times a week for half an hour and it focuses on Year 1 key objectives.
Links have been made to the Primary Framework and the end of year expectations.
The intervention embraces key messages from the Excellence and Enjoyment materials, including assessment for learning and speaking and listening.
The theme which runs through the program is 'Magic!'.

A one day training event is run twice a year for tecahers and teaching assistant to become familiar with the programme.
