Children's Centres in Your Area
September 2008
Children's Centres are being developed throughout the East Riding, to support parents to enable them to enjoy raising their family, and to give children the best start in life.
Children's Centres aim to provide opportunities so that each child can:
develop self confidence and self esteem
extend his/her natural curiosity and zest for life
develop into a fluent and confident communicator
become creative and imaginative
explore feelings of awe and wonder, joy, delight and mystery
develop friendships and co-operation with others in a safe environment
lead a healthy life
recognise the value of equal opportunity for all, regardless of race, sex, class and special needs
receive support as part of a family and a community.
Children's Centres aim to provide opportunites so that each parent and carer can:
enjoy raising their family
develop confidence in their parenting skills
have access to information that can help them and their family
access to support to enable them to cope at difficult times
develop friendships and support networks with other parents and carers
feel able to drop in to the centre or call and discuss any worries, concerns or achievements
feel valued
raise their aspirations and self esteem
have a sense of belonging in their community.
At East Riding Children's Centre Cottingham we support you and your family through:
