Literacy

The draft renewed literacy Framework is different from the 1998 Framework

An electronic version – The most obvious difference is that the revised Framework is an electronic version. The electronic format will allow you to link quickly to a wide range of teaching and learning resources, so that you can customise your planning, teaching and assessment more easily.

A clearer structure for literacy - To simplify the structure of the objectives, twelve strands of learning in literacy have been identified, giving a broad overview of the literacy curriculum in the primary phase. The objectives are aligned to the twelve strands to demonstrate progression in each strand.

Slimmed-down objectives - Another key difference is that objectives in the 1998 Framework for literacy have been slimmed down to give a clearer sense of the important aspects of literacy that need to be taught to children each year.
