Information:
This is
Module 4 of the Foundation Degree in Supporting Learning. It aims to
introduce an understanding of the aims and purposes of Assessment
for Learning and Assessment of Learning. It will look at the
principles and purposes of assessment, use of learning intentions,
strategies for collecting information, developing the skills of
self-assessment and self-evaluation, the impact of assessment on
motivation, use of feedback and target setting and systematic
recording as a basis for tracking pupils 'achievement and progress.
Two written assignments will be required: one of 1500 words and the
other of 2500 words. There are 16 extra places available for
candidates who wish to study for a Foundation Degree or who wish to
complete 3 Modules in order to gain the Certificate of Professional
Practice in Supporting Learning (60 CAT Points).

On completion
of the module, students will be able to: Identify the principles
and purposes of assessment; Plan for and use a range of
monitoring and assessment strategies; Give immediate and
constructive feedback to support learning Track pupil progress
using systematic recording and report to different audiences
