' A true indication of whether a school invests in its pupils is from the perceptions and beliefs of its pupils and staff.
'- Star Training and Consultancy
Investors in Pupils an award
rewarding good practice in involving pupils in their own education.
Investors in pupils is based on four principles:
- Commitment
- Review
- Action
- Improvement
It helps pupils find out why they come to school, about the jobs
of everyone in the school and how each person is involved in their
education.
It supports them in making rules for the class, in setting targets for the class and
for themselves whilst recognising the importance of relationships and teamwork and the
roles and responsibilities of everyone involved in their education.
It leads to increased motivation for staff and pupils, improved attendance where
this has been a problem, improved behaviour identified by pupils.
Pupils say they enjoy school more since starting the project, targets
allow pupils to see themselves making progress and pupils 'gel'
and begin to work as a team
