The Basic Skills Quality Mark has been awarded since 1997.
If you teach in a school the Basic Skills Quality Mark is well worth achieving.
It is about recognising schools that meet minimum standards in teaching literacy and numeracy.
Over 3,000 schools have the Quality Mark to dateand your school could join this group.
There are 2 versions of the Basic Skills Quality Mark, and they are:
- A Quality Mark for Primary Schools
- A Quality Mark for Secondary Schools
All three Quality Marks have similar elements, although they are applied in different contexts.
The Quality Marks provide a framework for schools and adult basic skills programmes to improve what they are doing in terms of basic skills, by which we mean reading, writing, spelling and maths.
