Introduction
The eRiding website is both a collection of resources and a set of tools
that enable a wide range of users to access top quality teaching and learning materials, targeted
at specific audiences from the world of learning.
The success of eRiding depends on you, its users.
There will be some material on the site at its inception, together
with links to other proven educational resources but the aim is to produce a site that
is filled with locally-generated resources derived from the wealth of talent in the
East Riding of Yorkshire.
eRiding will not only serve the needs of teachers and learners in the Riding, but also the needs of those further afield, both national and international.
- John Janulewski, ICT Strategy Manager
eRiding will not only serve the needs of teachers and learners
in the Riding, but also the needs of those further afield, both national and
international.
We have continued to build on the success of eRiding's predecessor, ERiL (the East Riding Intranet
for Learning), which we know had a wide-ranging audience, and have retained the best and relevant
items from that site.
The e-mail address for your comments, and other contact which is chris.a.brown@eastriding.gov.uk so please use this to give us your thoughts on
what we can do to improve the site and also what you would like to see on the site - we will endeavour to incorporate your
ideas - we want this to be your site.
We wish the site to be an open resource and there will be a balance of openness and
quality control that will maximise the balance of accessibility and acceptable use of
the site.
We would appreciate all inputs being passed through the e-mail address above.
How to Use eRiding
eRiding is the universal medium by which the East Riding of Yorkshire Council's
Local (education) Authority can publicise, distribute and share 'best-practice' teaching and
learning resources.
Using the menus and search mechanisms on the site will allow users to find objects
relevant to the field of study, which can then be downloaded and saved, or used directly
from the site.
Security for Users of the Site
Part of the site will be links to outside sites that have a national reputation.
As
our disclaimer points out we cannot be responsible for the nature of the content in
those sites, however we wish to adopt a responsible position and will rely on both
our own monitoring systems and reports from users of our site to identify
inappropriate material.
In the unlikely event that any external site is found to be
inappropriate by an adviser in the relevant field, the link will be removed.
Again please use the e-mail address above to let us have your views.
Original material
posted on the site will be vetted, prior to posting, by professional personnel who
are subject to the East Riding's "Acceptable Use of the Internet" policy.
Our aim is to make this a safe site for all people to use.
It will endeavour to make
learning accessible to all learners that wish to use it and we will welcome ideas
that will improve that accessibility.
Happy Learning.
