Sinking a U-Boat From HMS ViceroyThis memoir was submitted in November 2009 by Henrietta Morgan of Australia, the Grand-daughter of Lt. Cdr. John Manners. Lieutenant Commander John Manners, D.S.C.Memoirs 1938-1946IntroductionThe following email was gratefully received on 13th November 2009... I thought you might find my grandfathers (Lt Cdr John Manners) memoirs of the war interesting - including his sinking of U Boat 1274 from the HMS Viceroy for your war memoirs project. He is still alive and in very good mind (at 95!). But if you have any questions please do call him in England at +44 1488 XXXXXX. I attach his full war memoirs (and pictures - most of which were taken by him too) which also include his 2 brothers (also officers in their own ships) and also his sister. Also, my Grandad's father was Rear Admiral Errol Manners who was the only Admiral to not take a break through WWII. Thanks to Henrietta for her kind submission; this is a very interesting and important testimony.
